Pavlichenko took to shooting at a young age, joining a shooting club. She earned the nickname “Lady Death” and was named a Hero of the Soviet Union, the USSR’s highest honour, and awarded the Order of Lenin. The most-talked-about woman sniper in history, Ukraine-born Lyudmila Pavlichenko served in the Soviet Red Army and reportedly slew more than 300 Nazi soldiers in World War II.
